Thousands of positive reviews and tens of thousands of winners.' The video also featured three people supposedly sharing success stories about the app. Investigation revealed several signs of AI manipulation: Koinange's voice had a slight West African accent unlike his usual Kenyan accent, and reverse image searches traced the footage back to original videos where the people were speaking about different topics entirely. The deepfake was created using existing footage of Koinange from a Citizen TV report posted on April 24, 2024, about a pastor accused of scamming people. AI tools analyzed Koinange's voice and facial movements to create the realistic but fraudulent endorsement video. The video contained several red flags including overly promotional language, claims of 'guaranteed returns,' enthusiastic testimonials using phrases like 'real miracle,' and notably did not mention the app's name. The video was not found on Koinange's or Citizen TV's official social media pages and lacked responsible gambling disclaimers that would typically accompany legitimate gambling promotions.
