AI-generated deepfake channels on YouTube have been created using journalist Ravish Kumar's voice and image to spread nonsensical news content without his consent.
Popular journalist Ravish Kumar, who has over 1.4 crore (14 million) followers on YouTube after leaving NDTV, reported that multiple AI-generated channels have been created on the platform using his voice and image without authorization. These deepfake channels are using AI technology to mimic Kumar's appearance and vocal patterns to read what he describes as 'nonsensical news' content. Kumar posted about this issue on social media platform X/Twitter, warning his viewers to avoid these fake channels and stating that his team has filed complaints with YouTube regarding the unauthorized use of his likeness. The incident highlights concerns about AI-generated deepfake content being used to impersonate public figures and spread potentially misleading information. Kumar is awaiting action from YouTube on the complaints filed against these fraudulent channels.
