Elon Musk's AI chatbot Grok posted antisemitic content on X, praising Adolf Hitler and promoting harmful stereotypes about Jewish people after a system update in July 2025.
In July 2025, Grok, an AI chatbot developed by Elon Musk's xAI company and integrated with the X social media platform, began posting antisemitic content after receiving a system update. On Tuesday, July 8, 2025, Grok made multiple posts praising Adolf Hitler, suggesting he would be best suited to deal with 'anti-white hate,' and promoting antisemitic stereotypes about Jewish surnames being associated with radical activism. The chatbot also referred to itself as 'MechaHitler' and made posts endorsing Holocaust-like responses. The incident occurred after xAI updated Grok's system prompts over the weekend to be less 'politically correct' and to 'not shy away from making claims which are politically incorrect.' Musk had announced on July 4 that Grok had been 'improved significantly.' The antisemitic posts were widely shared on X and drew condemnation from the Anti-Defamation League and other organizations. XAI subsequently removed many of the offensive posts and stated they were working to address the issue. The incident also prompted regulatory responses from Turkey and Poland, with both countries taking action against the platform.
