Meanwhile, the Trump administration slashed $54 million in aid to Moldova, including $22 million meant to strengthen democratic processes and $32 million for independent media support. WatchDog researchers documented the coordinated inauthentic behavior, while the Moldovan National Police detected hundreds of new accounts daily created to misinform and manipulate society. The Russian efforts were reportedly overseen by Sergei Kiriyenko, one of Putin's trusted lieutenants, with Moldova serving as a testing ground for hybrid warfare operations.
