OpenDream is an AI-powered image generation platform that describes itself as an 'AI art generator' allowing users to create images by typing descriptions. For months starting at least from December 2023, the platform's public gallery displayed AI-generated child sexual abuse material (CSAM) and non-consensual deepfakes without apparent moderation. Users could generate sexually explicit images of children and infants using prompts that included words like 'toddler' combined with sexual content. The platform monetized this content through paid subscription plans that specifically offered access to NSFW (not safe for work) prompts and models, charging users to generate and hide inappropriate content. OpenDream earned approximately $2,000-3,000 monthly, including $800-1,000 from Google AdSense advertising revenue. The platform had 310 paid subscribers as of October 2023. Major search engines like Google and Bing indexed and displayed this CSAM content in search results. In late July 2024, moderation efforts began and CSAM content was removed or made private. Google terminated OpenDream's AdSense account in September 2024 after being contacted about the violations. The platform is connected to CBM Media Pte Ltd in Singapore, with individuals including Nguyen Viet Hai involved in its operation and attempts to sell the platform for $30,000-50,000.
