A 17-year-old Spanish student used AI to create deepfake nude images of 16 female classmates and distributed them on social media for sale.
Spanish police investigated a 17-year-old male student in Valencia for using artificial intelligence to create deepfake nude images of female classmates. Sixteen young women at an educational institute complained about AI-generated nude images of them circulating on social media and online. In December, a teenage girl reported that AI-generated videos and faked photos showing her 'completely naked' were posted on a social media account created under her name. The Civil Guard stated that photos of various minors appeared on this account, all manipulated from original images to make the subjects appear completely naked. The 17-year-old suspect is under investigation for alleged corruption of minors. The Spanish government proposed legislation in March to criminalize such deepfaked sexual imagery created without consent, but the bill has not yet been passed by parliament. This incident follows a similar case in September 2023 where 15 minors in Extremadura were investigated for using AI to produce fake naked images of female schoolmates and received one year probation sentences.
