Deepfake AI technology was used to create fake videos of conservative columnist George Will appearing to comment on fabricated Supreme Court rulings about Trump, spreading false information about 72-hour deadlines and potential jail time.
In late December 2025, multiple YouTube channels uploaded deepfake videos falsely depicting conservative political columnist George Will commenting on fabricated Supreme Court rulings regarding President Trump's financial records. The fake videos claimed the Supreme Court had ordered Trump to produce financial documents within 72 hours or face jail time, which was completely false. Users created these deepfakes by downloading genuine interview clips of Will from MLB Network in March 2025 and using AI tools to manipulate his mouth movements and audio to read from fabricated scripts. The videos appeared on channels named Capitol Transparency Watch, George Will Analysis, TwoNation News, Mind to George, Voices of Freedom, and others. Some videos displayed YouTube's 'altered or synthetic content' labels, but disclaimers were often buried in expandable text descriptions that viewers might miss. The fake content also spread to Facebook and TikTok platforms. According to Will's official social media accounts and Washington Post column archive, he made no such commentary during the timeframe. The fabricated videos circulated following December 23, when real news broke about the Supreme Court declining the Trump administration's emergency request regarding National Guard deployment in Chicago.
