The videos showed doctors applying weight loss patches to their bodies and losing weight over time, but the Trust confirmed these videos were AI-generated and did not show doctors who actually work there. Dr Daghni Rajasingam, deputy chief medical officer at the Trust, stated that NHS clinicians would never endorse or promote commercial products and that staff were actively working to get the videos removed. Financial crime expert Graham Barrow investigated the fraudulent content and found that the Facebook profile of one alleged doctor used a photo from a Romanian bank advertisement, and that the profile's 1,000 followers were entirely from Vietnam. The videos claimed the weight loss patches were made in the UK but showed packaging with a French flag. Barrow described the scheme as designed to bypass rational thinking and exploit people's desire to lose weight, urging consumers to do basic checks before purchasing products. The Trust asked people to report the videos to social media platforms where they were being shared.
