An impersonator used AI-generated voice technology to create fake Andrew Tate content on TikTok, gaining over 200,000 followers and promoting fraudulent courses while the real Tate was imprisoned.
An individual operating under the username @drreality.life impersonated imprisoned influencer Andrew Tate on TikTok using AI-generated voice technology and visual mimicry. The impersonator wore similar clothing to Tate, used his distinctive hand gestures, and employed what appeared to be AI-generated voice replication to convince over 200,000 followers and millions of viewers that they were watching the real Andrew Tate. The account began posting on February 14 and promoted a fraudulent 'Online Wealth Creation Course' for €19.99 through a website called 'Behind Real Reality,' which was positioned as a cheaper alternative to Tate's original $49.99 per month 'Hustler's University' program. The impersonator evaded direct questions about their identity while alluding to 'being back' and encouraging followers to realize who they were. Many followers believed the deception, posting supportive comments. TikTok banned the account after being alerted by Motherboard about the violations. The incident occurred while the real Andrew Tate was detained in a Romanian prison on human trafficking charges and banned from major social media platforms including TikTok.
