Teenager Makes Deepfake Pornography of 50 Girls at Bacchus Marsh Grammar School in Australia

In June 2024, a teenage male created AI-generated fake nude images of approximately 50 female students from years 9 to 12 at Bacchus Marsh Grammar, a private school in regional Victoria, Australia. The perpetrator used faces of the girls lifted from their social media accounts and employed AI 'nudifying' applications to create explicit deepfake images. These images were then shared on Instagram and subsequently distributed via Snapchat among students. The incident was discovered on Monday when parents reported the mass creation of fake nude images to the school. Victoria Police confirmed they were investigating reports of explicit images being circulated online, with officers informed that images were sent to a person in the Melton area via an online platform on June 7. A teenage male was arrested in connection with the incident but was released pending further inquiries. Principal Andrew Neal confirmed about 50 girls had been targeted, describing the images as 'mutilated' and 'incredibly graphic.' One parent, Emily, whose daughter attended the school, described having to provide a bucket for her traumatized 16-year-old daughter who became physically sick after seeing the images. The school offered support to affected students and their families through wellbeing staff. This incident followed a similar case at Salesian College Chadstone, where a 15-year-old student was expelled for creating deepfake explicit images of a female teacher.
