Jorge Abrego, 37, co-owner of HTX Tactical gun store in northwest Houston, was arrested by Harris County Sheriff's Office for allegedly using AI to create fake pornographic content of a social media influencer identified as A.G. According to court documents, Abrego admitted to creating multiple fake social media accounts impersonating the victim and creating fake nude images using AI or Photoshop. The doctored photos, known as deepfakes, were circulated on TikTok and showed the victim appearing nude with heart emojis covering intimate areas, as well as videos showing her engaged in sexual acts. The victim told Peace Officer Gary Elofson that she feared for her life and that the fake images caused her anxiety, humiliation, stress, damaged her personal reputation, and resulted in financial loss. The phone number used to create the fake accounts was traced back to Abrego. He is currently out on a $10,000 bond with conditions prohibiting him from owning firearms, possessing pornography, or accessing social media sites. HTX Tactical released a statement emphasizing these are allegations and that Abrego's actions do not represent the company's values.
