A minor in Palma used AI applications to create realistic nude images of five female classmates by manipulating their clothed photos from social media, then distributed these fake images to other students before being arrested by police.
Spanish National Police arrested a minor in Palma for creating and distributing AI-generated nude images of his female classmates. The investigation began when several affected minors filed complaints stating that nude photographs of them were being circulated, though they recognized the images as being based on clothed photos they had posted on their social media accounts. The Technology Crimes Unit discovered that a male student from the same school had downloaded images from the victims' public social media profiles and used an AI application to generate artificial nude images with a high degree of realism. The families of the victims reported that the fake nude images appeared so realistic that they had to examine them carefully multiple times to realize they were digitally manipulated. Police identified five minor victims in total. Given that the images involved minors in sexual contexts, investigators classified the case as child pornography production. The perpetrator was arrested and charged with corruption of minors, and the case was referred to the Minors Prosecutor's Office of the Balearic Islands. Police reminded the public that according to the Penal Code, any material depicting a person who appears to be a minor in sexually explicit conduct, whether real or simulated, is considered child pornography.
