A Mississippi teacher used artificial intelligence to generate sexually explicit videos depicting students aged 14-16, creating child pornography using images obtained from social media without the students' knowledge or consent.
Wilson Jones, a 30-year-old educator in the Corinth School District, was arrested on charges of production and possession of morphed images of child pornography. The incident was discovered on November 19, 2024, when the school district's internet filtering system alerted administrators to illicit content on Jones' school computer. The system scans computers for inappropriate content and automatically notifies administrators. Jones admitted to using AI to generate videos but claimed the content was not sexual, according to FBI affidavit. However, evidence showed AI-generated videos of multiple students engaging in sexual activity. The children featured in the videos ranged from 14 to 16 years old, and their images were obtained from social media platforms. The students had no knowledge that their pictures were being used to create these videos and did not willingly produce any content. Jones resigned on November 21, 2024. The Mississippi Department of Education received the report on January 29, and notified Corinth Police on February 26. The FBI served a subpoena on March 3 to gather evidence including videos, laptops and other materials. The case has been referred to the FBI and U.S. Attorney's Office for prosecution.
