The video allegedly involved Baghel and his former deputy secretary in objectionable content that Congress leaders described as fake, defamatory and deliberately created to malign Baghel's reputation. The incident triggered a political storm in Durg, with large groups of Congress workers reaching police stations with memorandums alleging targeted political character assassination. Police registered an FIR under BNS section 353(2) for statements creating enmity, hatred or ill will, and wrote to Instagram requesting account takedown and handler details. The state women's commission took cognisance due to the involvement of a woman in the video and demanded technical examination by the cyber cell. Congress leaders described this as an example of how AI and deepfake tools are being weaponised in politics to damage reputations and influence public perception. The investigation continues to identify handlers, source devices and the circulation chain of the clip.
